- La maladie du charbon, également appelée fièvre charbonneuse, est une maladie infectieuse aiguë causée par la bactérie Bacillus anthracis. C'est une anthropozoonose, c'est-à-dire commune aux animaux et à l'homme. Très rare chez l'homme, elle s'observe le plus souvent chez les animaux herbivores. Bacillus anthracis est une arme bactériologique potentielle depuis la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et a été particulièrement médiatisée à la suite des attentats du 11 septembre 2001. (Wikipédia)
