- The events occurring during priming or osmoconditioning are apparently very diverse. They could involve the unequal distribution, or redistribution of water between different parts of the seed, as apparently occurs during the ethylene evoked precocious germination of some seeds. Sometimes repair processes occur, e.g. membrane or DNA repair. In other cases the resistance of the seed coat is specifically reduced opposite the point of emergence of the radicle and in yet other cases, embryo or extension growth may begin. (Source : INRA)
