drug use forecasting/arrestee drug abuse monitoring

Définition(s)

  • In 1987 the National Institute of Justice initiated the Drug Use Forecasting (DUF) program to complement other drug use monitoring systems in the United States, studies such as the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH, formerly called the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse), Monitoring the Future (MTF), and the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN). NSDUH, MTF, and DAWN each examine drug use trends among different populations: NHSDU targets the civilian, noninstitutionalized population age 12 or older; MTF collects data from nationally representative samples of 8th graders, 10th graders, and 12th graders enrolled in public and private schools each year; and DAWN collects data on drug-related visits to hospital emergency departments and drug-related deaths investigated by medical examiners and coroners.
