Karl Wittfogel
Définition(s)
- Karl August Wittfogel's “hydraulic” theory strongly influenced anthropological theories of state formation during the 1950s and 1960s. Though his theory of the hydraulic state was partly derived from Karl Marx's and Friedrich Engels's writings, his theories had broad epistemological and political roots.
