Définition(s)

  • The Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program was a federal entitlement program that provided financial and work support, as well as child care assistance, to financially distressed families with children. After the passage of the Welfare Reform Law of 1996, AFDC was repealed and supplanted by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.
