Concept information

Terme préférentiel

investigator bias

Définition(s)

  • The concept of investigator bias was coined by Christian Meissner and Saul Kassin, who found in a meta-analysis that neither deception-detection training nor experience in lie-detection-related jobs (for example, law enforcement) increase accuracy (that is, correct classification) in identifying truths and lies. Instead, training and experience increase the tendency to judge other people's statements as deceptive and reduce confidence in the accuracy of judgments.
