Russell completed maps showing spatial variation through time in the Koeppen climatic boundaries across the United States. Since that time, climatic change research at LSU has focused on synoptic-to-global-scale atmospheric circulation, hydroclimatology, paleoclimatology, and surface–atmosphere interactions.
