The map categorizes the incidents into the following types: shore-based infrastructure failure, including leaks from wells and pipelines; fires and explosions on offshore platforms; leaks and spills from offshore platforms and collisions between ships and platforms; tanker collisions with other ships; and tanker problems, such as ships breaking apart, leaks, fires, running aground, or sinking.
