  • CHRONIC LYMPHOCYTIC LEUKEMIA (CLL), the most frequent form of leukemia in the Western countries, is characterized by clonal proliferation and accumulation of neoplastic B lymphocytes in the blood, bone marrow, lymph nodes, and spleen. The annual incidence is 2 to 3 per 100,000; the male-to-female ratio is 2:1; and the median age at diagnosis is 65 to 70 years.
