victim assistance by faith-based organizations

Définition(s)

  • Faith-based crime victim assistance programs did not come into existence until 1982 when President Reagan's Task Force on Victims of Crime released its Final Report, which encouraged faith-based organizations to begin supporting victims of crime and victimizers. In 1998, the publication of New Directions From the Field: Victim's Rights and Services for the 21st Century revised the original document and suggested that whenever possible, faith-based organizations should provide assistance to victims and victimizers.
