  • The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) was adopted on December 18, 1979, by the United Nations General Assembly and entered into force on September 3, 1981, after the 20th member state had ratified it. To date, 186 states have ratified the convention, and in doing that, they have committed themselves to fight against discrimination against women.
