informatization

Définition(s)

  • Informatization, first coined in Japan in the late 1960s as johoka, is now used with at least the following three meanings: (1) intentional policies or strategies using information technologies to promote socioeconomic development; (2) the penetration of modern information and communication technologies into government, industry, and the home, in the broadest sense; and (3) the development of communication technologies, the increase of information flows, and the diffusion of mass media and education among the general public. Informatization Policies In the late 1950s and early 1960s, futurology was popular, especially in the United States and Japan, and many social scientists and engineers attempted to predict the future based on some scientific or pseudoscientific methods.
