  • The World Council of Churches, an international and interdenominational organization of Christian churches, founded in 1948, is dedicated to ecumenical dialogue and the promotion of mission, unity, justice, and peace throughout the world. It formally defines itself as “a fellowship of Churches which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Savior according to the Scriptures and therefore seek to fulfill together their common calling.” With its permanent headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the WCC is made up of 348 member churches and a number of affiliated national councils of churches.
