  • Cronbach's alpha is one type of INTERNAL RELIABILITY estimate used to assess the consistency of responses on a composite measure that contains more than one component (i.e., items, raters). Alpha coefficient, the most widely used reliability estimate, was first introduced by the late Lee J. Cronbach in 1951.
