relativisms and their ontologies

Definición

  • This entry presents varieties of relativism, explains the distinction between the ontic and the epistemic points of view, and critically reviews certain modes in which relativism contrasts with certain varieties of its contrary position—absolutism. Relativism claims that values such as truth, goodness, or beauty are relative to particular reference frames and that no absolute overarching standards to adjudicate between competing reference frames exist.
