  • The National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) was formed in 1890, fighting for female voting rights as the premier suffrage organization. Previous to NAWSA s inception, the mainstream suffrage movement had split into two main factions: the American Woman Suffrage Association, led by Lucy Stone, Henry Blackwell, and Julia Ward Howe, and the National Woman Suffrage Association, led by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B.
