Rosenwald Fund

- The Rosenwald Fund, established in 1917 by philanthropist Julius Rosenwald, became a major agency pivotal to the provision of African American education in the South during the early 20th century. Unlike other industrial philanthropists, Rosenwald and his fund earmarked funding for a particular campaign: the erection of school buildings and structures.
