Definición

  • In 1976, the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Gregg v. Georgia reestablished the death penalty as constitutional in certain circumstances. The ruling came after a 4-year moratorium resulting from the Court's 1972 decision in Furman v. Georgia, which had found the death penalty to be unconstitutional as it was then applied.
