National Marrow Donor Program

Definición

  • IN THE 1950S it was shown that bone-marrow transplants could be used to treat patients with leukemia and other blood cancers. Because it is difficult to find a suitable donor for a particular patient, Congress established what would become the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) to create an international registry of marrow donors.
