interpersonal deception theory

Definición

  • Interpersonal deception theory (IDT) is a mid-range theory developed by David Buller and Judee Burgoon to predict and explain the process of encoding and decoding deceptive messages in interpersonal encounters. In response to what the authors perceived as an overly psychological orientation in the social science literature on deception, Buller and Burgoon created an interpersonal communication perspective on deception.
