  • During the late 1990s, enthusiasm over the possibilities of doing business using the Internet attracted entrepreneurs and investors to participate in what the media called the “new economy.” The new economy generated new heroes, such as Jeff Bezos, the founder of and Time Magazine's 1999 man of the year.
