Definición

  • In 1977, the sociologist Ray Oldenburg introduced the concept of the third place, a place that is an informal public gathering place apart from the home (the first place) and the work site (the second place), which host a company of regulars in addition to occasional and one-time visitors. The concept has been further refined in the decades since its introduction. [Source: Encyclopedia of Community: From the Village to the Virtual World; Third Places]
