  • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) was founded in 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, and is currently based in Washington, D.C. ACOG has almost 50,000 members, all of whom must be physicians who are board certified in obstetrics and gynecology; approximately 95 percent of all obstetri-cian-gynecologists in the United States are members of the organization.
