Mahayana Buddhism

Definición

  • Buddhism was divided into two schools because of a schism that gained increasing momentum between the 1st century BCE and 2nd century CE. The new school of Buddhism called itself “the greater vehicle,” or Mahayana, as it had reinterpreted the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama (563–483 BCE) to accommodate a greater number of people.
