entrapment

Definición

  • Entrapment is considered an affirmative defense primarily in criminal cases when government officials induce an individual to commit a crime that she/he was not predisposed to commit, but for which he/she is consequently prosecuted. Entrapment law bars the government from invoking the criminal process to get a conviction because those who are entrapped are not criminally liable.
