  • A school behavioral health policy is a public document representative of the beliefs and values of the school community related to behavioral health and drug and alcohol concerns and problems of their children and adolescents. Policy directs how school professionals (e.g., superintendents, board members, principals, teachers, counselors, and nurses) promote students' social and emotional health and help students confront difficult issues, such as tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use and abuse; depression; mental illness; emotional, physical, and sexual abuse; and violence among students.
