ecological imperialism

Definición

  • Ecological imperialism, a thesis first proposed by Alfred Crosby in 1972, advances the theory that European colonization, beginning in the 16th century, was facilitated by the ecological damage inflicted due to the transfer of germs, plants, and animals to the New World. Further, ecological imperialism proposes that the most drastic effect of European colonialism in the New World was not in the realm of social and political change but in the natural world.
