Definición

  • As used in both adult and juvenile justice systems in the United States and abroad, community service orders are sanctions that require convicted, adjudicated, or diverted offenders to work (usually unpaid) for a specified number of hours for governmental or nonprofit agencies. Service programs vary in the forms of work required from offenders, as well as the duration of service obligations. [Source: Encyclopedia of Community Corrections; Community Service Order]
