  • The Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) is an integrated system of programs and systems aimed at providing a comprehensive and timely series of observations about the oceans for interested parties. GOOS represents the oceanographic component of the larger Global Earth Observing System of Systems (GEOSS) and is sponsored by the Intergovernmental Oceanic Commission (IOC) of the United Nations (UN), the UN Environment Programme, the World Meteorological Organization, and the International Council for Science.
