- Television in Politics: Its Uses and Influence (1968) by Jay G. Blumler and Denis McQuail examines the role of television during the British parliamentary election campaign in 1962 when Sir Alec Douglas-Home ran as top candidate of the Conservatives and Harold Wilson for the Labour Party. At that time, the American communication researcher Jay Blumler and his British colleague Denis McQuail worked for the Granada Television Research Unit of the University of Leeds.
