community health centers

Definición

  • Community health centers, also known as federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), are community-controlled health facilities that offer basic medical care in low-income and medically underserved areas. Funded by federal grants and often with sliding-scale fees based on patient income, these centers have provided priMary care and preventive services in urban and rural communities across the United States for more than four decades at a cost below the national average for comparable services.
