global health ethics

Definición

  • The Institute of Medicine refers to global health as “health problems, issues, and concerns that transcend national boundaries, may be influenced by circumstances or experiences in other countries, and are best addressed by cooperative actions and solutions.” The notion of global health presumes a common bond between all of humanity, a common fate, and to some extent, a common interest in preventing death and alleviating suffering. For many, this common interest defines the ethics of global health; for others, global health ethics is a more complex and varied field. [Source: Encyclopedia of Global Health; Global Health Ethics]
