debiasing

Definición

  • Debiasing refers to the wide variety of techniques, methods, and interventions that are designed to eliminate or lessen potential errors, distortions, or mistakes in people's beliefs, judgments, or decisions. This entry summarizes and describes debiasing by placing techniques into three general categories: (a) motivational, involving strategies such as changing the ways in which incentives or punishments are allocated to decision makers; (b) cognitive, involving strategies such as changing the ways in which decision makers think about a problem; or (c) technological, involving things such as changing the ways in which computers and technologies can be employed to assist problem solving.
