  • The more than 80,000 chemicals in commerce today can enter the body through a variety of household items; some nonstick pans, for example, contain the chemical PFOA, which was found in humans during a study by the CDC. This can include synthetic or man-made chemicals as well as naturally occurring substances, but refers to chemicals that one would not ordinarily find in the body.
