hypothalamus
Definición
- A small area of the brain that forms the floor and part of the lateral wall of the third ventricle. The hypothalamus is known as the “brain within the brain” because of its importance, via complex feedback loops with the pituitary gland, in the activation, control, and integration of the peripheral autonomic nervous system, the endocrine system, and somatic regulation.
