Definición

  • PASSIVE SMOKING (ALSO known as secondhand smoking, involuntary smoking, or exposure to environmental tobacco smoke) describes the inhalation of a mixture of sidestream smoke given off by a smoldering cigarette and the mainstream smoke exhaled by a smoker. Worldwide, approximately 1.3 billion people currently smoke cigarettes or other products (more than 1 billion men and 250 million women) [Guidon 2003]. Over fifty percent of children in the world are exposed to secondhand smoke in their homes (UCETS and Child Health). [Source: Encyclopedia of Cancer and Society; Passive Smoking]
