hot spots

Definición

  • DefinitionA ‘hot spot’ of crime is a small geographic location in which the rate of crimes per square foot, but not necessarily the rate of crimes per person, is far higher than in the areas that surround the hot spot. The ratio of crime rates between ‘hot’ and ‘cool’ locations may vary, but one threshold is that the probability of one or more types of crime occurring at a hot spot must exceed 50 per cent over the next 12 months.
