deontology

Definición

  • Deontology derives from the Greek deon, “duty,” and logos, “science.” The term refers to a branch of ethics concerned with actions as guided by moral obligation or duty. The tradition is associated with the work of the German philosopher Immanuel Kant, who argued that there exist ethical values that require morally obligatory actions, regardless of their consequences.
