authoritarian personality

Definición

  • In 1950, Else Frenkel-Brunswick, Daniel J. Levinson, Theodor Adorno and R. Nevitt Sandford published The Authoritarian Personality, which popularised the idea that certain people, by virtue of their upbringing, acquired a character that predisposed them to accepting anti-democratic political beliefs. Rigid discipline and conditional affection created a personality that found comfort in submission to authority while directing aggression towards outsiders, usually racial minorities.
