autonomous health care plan/structure
Definition(s)
- An autonomous health care plan, broadly defined, is an organization that acts as a financial intermediary, typically for an employer, to which the assumption of financial risk, attendant to the obligation to pay for the delivery of health care services needed by the firm's employees, can be outsourced. Traditional health plans subserve only basic insurance functions, that is, actuarial services and risk pooling. [Source: Encyclopedia of Health Care Management; Autonomous Health Care Plan/Structure]
