Definition(s)
- A type of mental disorder whereby an individual experiences neurological symptoms (e.g., numbness) that cannot be explained by physical causes. Instead, it is believed that the problems arise as a result of mental problems or, in other words, that the individual has converted or otherwise conceived his or her psychological problems to be medical problems, when in fact there is little or no medical basis for the problems.
