Preferred term

perceptions of dangerous situations scale

Definition(s)

  • The Perceptions of Dangerous Situations Scale (PDSS) was developed to meet a need to evaluate women's self-defense programs, but it may be useful for other venues, such as martial arts, sexual assault prevention programming, and social science research. The PDSS is based on Albert Bandura's self-efficacy theory—how confident someone feels about accomplishing a challenge is the best predictor of the person's real performance when presented with the actual task.
