drug testing in community corrections

Definition(s)

  • Drug testing is the method whereby drugs or the byproducts of drug metabolism in the body (metabolites) are detected through a chemical analysis of biological material (such as blood, hair, or urine) provided by an individual undergoing the test. This method of detection is commonly utilized by juvenile and adult community corrections agencies as an objective way of assessing whether an offender is complying with the terms of his or her supervision.
