- A specialized shop for the dispensing of drugs, and the only legal source of drugs prescribed by a medical practitioner. Pharmacy, as an occupation, continues to try and define itself as a specialized para-medical profession, though now pharmacists rarely make up their own preparations, dispensing prepackaged drugs supplied by multinational companies.
