international college partnerships

Definition(s)

  • The recent two decades have witnessed a boom of international college partnerships, or “sister colleges.” As a type of exchange and collaboration of educational resources between different countries, and in many cases between diverse cultures, international college partnerships thrive along with the increasing mobility of international higher education stimulated by globalization. The implementation of international college partnerships might vary from region to region, yet in most cases, an international college partnership implies a long-term, collaborative relationship between higher education institutions based in different countries, which usually involves not only constant exchanges of students, faculty members, and college staffs carrying diverse knowledge of learning, teaching, and college administrating, but also a free trade of educational resources for monetary profit.
