Elbridge Gerry

Elbridge Gerry (1744–1814) was an early American statesman who served in numerous political posts, signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation, and, although he refused to sign it, nonetheless gave the U.S. Constitution his full support once it was ratified.
