Preferred term
union and community partnerships
Definition(s)
- Unions represent workers in the workplace, but, since their emergence in their modern form in the late 1800s, they have also been involved in activities intended to improve not only working conditions but also the quality of life in their communities and societies. Union-community partnerships have primarily focused on two areas: lobbying for legislation related to workplace issues and providing services that benefit the community.
