- Circle sentencing is part of a worldwide restorative justice movement that encourages the joint involvement of victims and offenders in determining how offenders will repay their debts to society. It is an old indigenous justice and healing practice common to aboriginal peoples in North America that was reintroduced in 1991 by judges and community justice committees in northern Canada.
