  • Born on February 28, 1901, in Portland, Oregon, to Herman Henry William Pauling and Lucy Isabelle Darling, Linus Carl Pauling is the only person to ever win two unshared Nobel Prizes (Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1954 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1962).
