vertical dyad linkage model

Definition(s)

  • The vertical dyad linkage (VDL) model is a framework for understanding workplace leadership that focuses on the interactions between the leader (manager) and his or her subordinates. The name of the model reflects its focus on two people (a dyad) and the facts that the position of the leader is above that of the subordinate in terms of authority in the organization (vertical) and that there is interrelated behavior between them (linkage).
